Tomorrow marks the 8th annual Sheep River Health Trust Radiothon on the Eagle 100.9.

The event will provide funding for wellness projects for six local non-profits and groups.

For Tania Willumsen, a board member with the trust, the pandemic highlighted the role these kinds of events play in the community.

"If people have wellness, then they thrive and the community thrives. Then they become involved and contribute and so forth, so healthcare is really at the root of everything, and I think COVID really brought this to our attention."

Mental health has been a big focus for a lot of people over the last few years, especially during the pandemic.

Willumsen's glad to see it get that kind of recognition.

"This is something we're seeing more and more of because health care in terms of mental support has not been a priority for many many years."

On top of the main fundraising goal, however, it's also intended to serve as a fun community event.

Four food trucks: Mini Donuts, Bubs Classic Grill, Perogy Boys, and Apreas Ranch will be joining in, as well as four local vendors: Norwax, Sunshine Soap Co, Mandies Makes, and Scentsy.

In total, over $400,000 has been raised over the last eight years' worth of Radiothons.
