If the Annual Education Results Report is like a report card, the Foothills School Division gets a passing grade.

Superintendent Chris Fuzessy says provincial data is hard to come by because provincial exams last year were made optional, but they were still able to come up with some locally sourced data.

"We surveyed our parents last year, asking them about the quality of education, their experience with safe and caring schools, how engaged students are, another data point is the SOSQ survey asking for students, for their voice around their school experience, how they're feeling, whether they're engaged, whether they're feeling anxious for example, and what we saw is in a very difficult school year with a lot of health-related COVID risk mitigation strategies in place in our schools that our students and our families felt safe and were happy being in school, albeit in a limited fashion," said Fuzessy.

He says the part they want to celebrate is maintaining trust throughout a difficult year.

The findings are being provided to parents to assure them the division is on the right track.
