The Foothills School Division has a couple of transportation issues its working on.

Assistant superintendent Drew Chipman says they're doing the best they can at this point.

"We're back to transporting some unfunded students where there's room and parental expectations is certainly one where it's hard to meet those but we're doing our best to make sure we're getting kids there on time and as safe as possible," he says.

He says like many other jurisdictions, here in Canada and the U.S., they're also dealing with a shortage of spare bus drivers.

"The challenges are primarily being able to find enough drivers, able to find enough spare drivers, that's one of the biggest pieces, we're also implementing all of the health orders, all the students have to be masked so we've got a lot of things going on with busing."

Chipman adds there was a task force set up last year and they're still getting information on that.
