McHappy Day is today, May 8, and the McDonald's locations in High River and Okotoks are raising money for local Food Banks.

Celebrating its 30th year in Canada the monies raised go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities and our local food banks.

Today, 10 per cent of every food or beverage sale goes to the RMHC, the Salvation Army Food Bank in High River, and the Okotoks Food Bank.

Swing Manager Sheila Lachica is grateful for all the local support they get.

"The meaning of McHappy Day for us is giving to some children who need help, giving them shelter, giving them food."

And Lachica says the local support to her means a great deal.

"It is a great pleasure for me because I've been here for eight years and it's very overwhelming because all of you guys here are willing to help."

You can also support the cause by purchasing socks, pins, or heart RMHC badges.
