Alberta Farm Animal Care celebrated 25 years at their 2018 Livestock Care Conference last week in Olds, AB.

The event featured speakers addressing progress in animal transportation and livestock production, as well as how to engage the public in the agriculture industry.

Marketing and Membership Manager with Alberta Farm Animal Care, Kristen Hall, says their special guest speaker Dr. Temple Grading helped draw a large crowd.

"I've heard Temple speak a couple of different places now, but every time you just kind of stare and listen and it's amazing. I think that really helped us with our numbers this year too. We cracked 200 which is awesome."

Hall says, the speakers at the event reflected on the last 25 years of animal welfare, and also provided insight on what the future of the industry holds.

"We heard a lot of things. We definitely saw a lot of progress, we saw a lot of changes that are coming down the line, a lot of things that are going to be implemented in ten, twenty years. I think that gives people in attendance the opportunity to look forward, kind of be the first ones to hopefully implement those changes before it's mandated."

She says, there was some great tips offered about how to tell your story as a member of the agriculture industry, in order to reach out and interact with consumers.

"We heard a lot about telling your story as usual at these conferences, but I think it was reiterated, I think all of our speakers touched on it at some point, and I think there was some good tips put out there about how to do that."

Alberta Farm Animal Care is based out of High River.
