The road ban is now 75 per cent on all municipal roads in the M.D. of Foothills.

Supervisor of Infrastructure with the M.D. of Foothills, Jeff Edgington, says this is the first time gravel roads have been included in the road ban.

"We had already put on our spring bans about two or three weeks ago, but due to the extreme winter conditions that we've had and the likelihood of this rapid melt coming, we've had a number of our roads failing."

Edgington says, agricultural users can call Roaddata to apply for a road use permit.

"There's no fee involved for them, and they can go to 100 per cent once they call there. So they'll call Roaddata at 1-888-444-9288, give us 24 hours notice and we'll turn around and give you your permit."

Permits require your name, 911 address, and route to the nearest Provincial Highway.

Edgington reminds people permits are only for agricultural use.
