Just in time for Thanksgiving, ATB Financial has released a report highlighting turkey production in Alberta.

It says last year, the Province represented 10 per cent of the total value of turkey produced in Canada, accounting for 1.8 million birds valued at $39.5 million.

But it's Ontario who tops the rankings, accounting for 41 per cent of turkeys produced in the country, followed by Quebec at 21 per cent.

The number of turkeys produced in Alberta last year was also four per cent higher than the 10 year average, while the dollar value per turkey was seven per cent higher than the ten year average.

However, the report shows turkey is overshadowed by the nearly 73 million chickens produced in the Province in 2018 compared to the 1.8 million turkeys.
