World Weather Inc.'s Senior Agricultural Meteorologist, Drew Lerner, has concerns about the dry conditions across the Prairies.

In his spring weather outlook, Lerner says he's worried that some regions won't be able restore subsoil moisture until late in the season, or not until the warm weather hits.

However, Lerner was positive about seeding.

"I think as far as planting moisture is concerned, we will be OK. I think most areas across the Prairies that are dry will get enough precipitation to be able to put some seeds in the ground but the concern is, if we do turn dry, and we'll have some moments that we will do that, I think that there's going to be a bit of worry."

Lerner says conserving moisture in any way possible is going to be important.

"Very similar to the drought years in the early 2000's, I think we need to be careful here that we don't expect too much out of the weather right off the bat."

He says we can expect near to below normal temperatures for the spring season in general.
