A Significant Drop in Pork Prices 

The Canadian Pork Council has sent a letter to Federal Ag Minister, Lawrence MacAulay, requesting a meeting to discuss the significant drop in pork prices.

Ongoing uncertainty in global pork markets has resulted in Canadian pigs being sold at prices that are 30 per cent lower than this time last year.

Harvest Slowly Progresses in Alberta

About 17 per cent of Alberta crops are now in the bin according to the latest Alberta Ag and Forestry Crop Report.

Recent wet weather across most areas of the province slowed down harvest, putting progress just behind the five year average of 24 per cent for this time of year.

 

Sheppard Family Park Brings History to Life Over the Weekend

Volunteers at Sheppard Family Park in High River used turn of the last century equipment to harvest some wheat on Saturday.

It was their annual Threshing Bee, where crew members piled wheat stooks from the wagon onto the old threshing machine to harvest the crop.

An Early Start for Manitoba Soybean Farmers
