MacAulay Concludes Visit To Mexico City

Federal Ag Minister, Lawrence MacAulay, concluded a two-day visit to Mexico City last Friday.

While in Mexico City, MacAulay held his fifth official meeting with Mexican Secretary of Agriculture, José Calzada.

The Minister also delivered remarks at a keynote conference with about 500 attendees.

Over 12 percent of Mexico's imported beef comes from Canada, and so does 97 per cent of their imported canola.

A Standing Ovation for ABP's Outgoing Chair

The Alberta Beef Producers gave a standing ovation to the outgoing Chair at their Annual General Meeting last week in Calgary.

Bob Lowe served as Chair for two years and says, his first big issue to tackle as Chair, was when Earls Restaurant announced they would be buying all their beef from an American supplier.

The new Chair, elected at the meeting, is Charlie Christie of Trochu.

Horses Stolen from Central Alberta are Still Missing

The six horses stolen from a farm in Central Alberta last Wednesday night, are still missing.

The property the animals were stolen from, is along Highway 13 between Buck Lake and Winfield.

The Breton RCMP are asking anyone with information regarding the stolen horses to contact them.


FCC Makes Generous Contribution to 4-H

52 Alberta 4-H clubs each received $500 from Farm Credit Canada (FCC).

FCC gave a total of $107,000 to 216 4-H clubs across Canada.

The money the 4-H clubs received is part of FCC's $1 million contribution committed over four years to 4-H Canada.
