Autonomous Tractor Pilot Project

New Holland Agriculture is partnering with the largest family-owned winery in the world to test it's autonomous technology applied to vineyard tractors.

They will be testing the technology through a pilot project, which will demonstrate the technology is applicable for all their tractors, even high horsepower row crop tractors.

 

Bovine TB Positive Herd Found in Michigan

A herd of roping cattle in Ottawa County, Michigan has been identified as bovine tuberculosis positive.

The identification comes after a trace investigation from two bovine TB positive cases found at a processing facility.

The infected animals originally came from a herd in Indiana, prior to the Indiana herd being tested and found positive for bovine TB in December of 2016.

Indiana and Michigan are among six states known to have infected cattle herds.

Alberta Wheat Commission Calls for Quick Passage of Bill C-49

On Wednesday evening, the Alberta Wheat Commission called on the Senate Standing Committee on Transport and Communications to pass Bill C-49 quickly.

The Bill, also known as the Transportation Modernization Act, will play an important role in ensuring railway accountability.

The Commission warned against consequences for rail delays, since farmers ultimately bear these costs.

The Commission says, the passage of Bill C-49 was delayed prior to the end of the year.

Former U.S. Presidential Speech Writer Says NAFTA Renegotiations Need to Happen in Good Faith

International trade was a hot topic this week at the CropConnect Conference in Winnipeg.

One of the keynote speakers was David Frum, former speech writer for George W. Bush.

He doesn't think much will happen with NAFTA while Donald Trump is President, noting negotiations need to be done in good faith.

Frum says, the key player in the deal could be Mexico, which has elections coming up later this summer.
