Former Prime Minister Speaks at Farm Conference

When it comes to the current NAFTA renegotiation, no deal is better than a bad deal.

That from former Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney, who was the keynote speaker at the CropConnect Conference last week in Winnipeg.

Mulroney, who negotiated the original NAFTA agreement, recently testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in Washington, D.C.

 

Lethbridge Ag Expo Over 120 Years Old

Last year, the Lethbridge Ag Expo and North American Seed Fair celebrated it's 120th years.

The show is coming up again at the end of the month, February 28 to March 2.

Doug Kryzanowski with the Expo says, they're one of 2 or 3 shows left in North America with a Seed Fair presentation.

Bovine TB Investigations Expected to Wrap Up This Spring

As the the bovine tuberculosis investigation starts to wind down in Western Canada, the man looking after the investigation says, overall it went smoothly.

Senior Executive with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Dr. Rick James-Davies, says all the on-farm work has been completed and the quarentines have been lifted.

James-Davies says, the investigation started back in September 2016, when a Canadian cow was found with bovine TB in an American slaughter facility, and was traced back to Southern Alberta.

 

Meetings Added To Study Canada's New Food Guide

After some pressure from the agriculture sector, last Wednesday, the Standing Committee on Health indicated additional meetings will be added to study Canada's New Food Guide.

They will be inviting agriculture stakeholders to participate in the study.
