Ag Minister in Nashville

Federal Ag Minister, Lawrence MacAulay, has been in Nashville, Tennessee since Friday, promoting trade and the North American Free Trade Agreement.

As part of the trip, MacAulay delivered a keynote address to the American Farm Bureau Federation's Annual Convention.

Today is the Ag Minister's last day in Nashville, and the Convention ends Wednesday.

Feed Requirements for Cold Temperatures

Recent cold temperatures meant producers went through a lot of feed trying to keep the energy level and condition up in their animals.

A ruminant nutrition specialist, Murray Feist, says for every 10 degree drop below -20,  the intake of feed will go up by about 30 per cent, which can be compounded by pregnancy if you're into a calving season at that time.

Saskatchewan's Premier, Brad Wall, is cautiously optimistic about the formation of Nutrien Ltd.

That’s the new company created with the recently approved merger of PotashCorp and Agrium.

Saskatoon will be the registered head office and will be the only corporate center of the new company that will see an increase in jobs.
