Canadian Agricultural Safety Week

This week is Canadian Agricultural Safety Week, with a theme of supporting seniors.

Glen Blahey with the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association, says the purpose of the week is to start conversations within family farm operations.

Blahey says, they're reminding people to consider what their limitations are before starting a task on the farm.

The Canadian Census shows there are more farmers over the age of 70 than under the age of 35.

 

FCC Offers Support to Farmers Facing Cash Flow Problems Due to Rail Issues

Farm Credit Canada is offering support to customers across Western Canada facing potential cash flow problems due to delays in grain movement.

FCC President and CEO, Michael Hoffort, says they'll support customers as needed, and continue to ensure they have the financial means to get their crops in the ground this spring.

 

USDA Releases March WASDE Report

The USDA released its World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report for March.

President of Ag Resource Company in Chicago, Dan Basse, says the biggest surprise in the report was the increase in U.S. corn exports, which was raised 175 million bushels.

The USDA will release its spring planting estimates at the end of the month.
