2018 Blue Book Now Available

The 2018 edition of the Blue Book is now available.

The Blue Book, formally known as the Crop Protection Publication, is an up-to-date guide for the selection and application of chemicals to protect crops.

The book is a resource put together by Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, and is revised annually.

Government to Review Canada Port Authorities

Federal Transport Minister Marc Garneau has announced a review of Canada's port authorities.

Garneau says, ports are a critical part of Canada's transportation network and trade corridors, and need to remain innovative and competitive.

Findings of the review are expected in 2019.

Giving a Voice to Female Pioneers

An Edmonton-based artist, inspired by a homesteader's diary from 1920, has brought her exhibit to Okotoks.

The exhibit is called, Illuminating the Diary of Alda Dale Randall.

Exhibit creator, Marlena Wyman, says she wanted to give a voice to the often-overlooked contributions of female pioneers.

She says, life was difficult for farming pioneers, and diary entries often mention a lack of food and the resulting hunger experienced by the family.

 

Livestock Care Conference Underway in Olds

The 2018 Livestock Care Conference starts today in Olds.

Famous author and speaker on both autism and animal behavior, Temple Grandin, will be speaking at the event tomorrow.
