Alberta Farm Animal Care Celebrates 25 Years
Alberta Farm Animal Care (AFAC) celebrated 25 years at their 2018 Livestock Care Conference last week in Olds.
Marketing and Membership Manager with AFAC, Kristen Hall, says their guest speaker Dr. Temple Grandin helped draw a large crowd.
Hall says, the speakers at the conference reflected on the progress made in animal welfare over the last 25 years in honour of their big milestone.

ASFC Announces New CEO
The Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC) was happy to introduce their new CEO Monday morning, the conclusion of a lengthy search process which began after the former CEO and entire Board were dismissed in June of 2016, following violations of the Crowns corporations' code of conduct.
Steve Blakely has over 40 years in the finance industry, including roles as President and CEO of Servus Credit Union, and he's the current Board Chair at Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario, a regulator and deposit insurer for the Ontario Credit Unions.
AFSC provides loans, crop insurance, and farm income disaster assistance.
The Launch of the Agricultural Clean Technology Program
Federal Agriculture Minister, Lawrence MacAulay, unveiled the Agricultural Clean Technology Program.
The $25 million, three-year investment will help the agricultural sector reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the development and adoption of clean technologies.
The program will launch on April 1, and a program guide will be available in the coming weeks.
