Loblaws Works with Cricket Farm in Ontario

Earlier this week, Loblaw announced it will be adding cricket powder to it's line of President's Choice Products.

They will be sourcing the crickets from a cricket farm northeast of Toronto.

Loblaw says, crickets need 12 times less feed than cattle, four times less feed than sheep, and half as much feed as pigs and broiler chickens to produce the same amount of protein.

The powder is high in protein and packed with vitamins and minerals.

 

Canada to Sign a New Trade Deal Today

The Canola industry is excited about Canada signing the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership today in Chile.

The Canola Council of Canada says, the new trade agreement will eliminate canola oil and canola meal tariffs and establish more effective rules to prevent non-tariff barriers.

More than 90 per cent of canola grown in Canada is exported.

Canadian Government Demands Action from CN and CP Rail

Canada's Ministers of Agriculture and Transport have sent a letter to the heads of CN  and CP Rail.

The government expressed concerns about the railways' failure to meet the expectations of shippers and customers over the winter, demanding action be taken to resolve the situation.

The letter requests the railways provide description of how they intend resolve the backlog in the coming weeks, and their plans to maintain the fluid movement of grain.

They asked for this information to be published on the railways' websites by March 15th.
