USDA Raises Corn and Soybean Forecasts

The U.S. Department of Agriculture raised both its corn and soybean production numbers in Wednesday's report.

The U.S. corn production forecast increased 2 percent from August, and yields are expected to average a record 181.3 bushels per acre.

U.S. soybean production is forecast at a record nearly 4.7 billion bushels.

 

Federal Ministers Host Grain Transportation Roundtable Discussions

Grain transportation was the focus of a roundtable discussion in Saskatoon yesterday.

The Federal Transport Minister and Federal Ag Minister hosted the roundtable with grain industry stakeholders.

The Canadian Government Invests in the Pulse Industry

On Tuesday, Federal Ag Minister Lawrence MacAulay announced an investment of up to $11.1 million to Pulse Canada and the Saskatchewan Pulse Growers under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, Agriscience Clusters.

The investment includes an additional $7.2 million in contributions from industry for a total of over $18 million.

The Cluster will focus on improving productivity of new pulse crops, addressing threats to the value chain, exploring the health benefits of pulses and developing innovations in pulse ingredient processing and food product development.
