According to Alberta Agriculture and Forestry's weekly crop report, As of last Tuesday, 60 percent of crops across Alberta are in the bins.

For the first time this year, harvest progress has fallen behind the 5 year average by 8 percent. Minimal harvest progress was made due cool temperatures and light precipitation.

There was even heavy frost reported across much of the Southern regions which had previously been missed.

The crop report says, to date, the quality of crops are very good and may even be better than anticipated.

Southern Alberta is about 98 percent complete harvest as of last week.

About three quarters of the Province's fall seeded crops are grown in Southern Alberta. 71 percent of the these crops seeded have been rated as poor. The continued dry conditions have taken their toll on these newly seeded fall crops.

But warmer temperatures are needed across the Northern half of the Province for their harvest, but this weather is not seen in the long term forecast.
