A Drayton Valley man is to appear in court this week.

The Alberta RCMP Serious Crimes Branch, Livestock Investigation Section handled the cattle fraud investigation.

RCMP say the incident relates to a partnership where one individual entered into an agreement to invest more than one-million dollars to buy cattle, feed and equipment from a company.

The RCMP investigation found that the calves had been sold contrary to the terms of the agreement and that the complainant had not received any payment.

RCMP have charged Alton Edward Wood of Drayton Valley with fraud over five-thousand dollars and uttering a forged document.

Police say Wood is known to the RCMP and has had business dealings in the past that have led to criminal charges.

Anyone with similar complaints is asked to contact the RCMP's Livestock Investigation Section at 403-598-6991.

Wood is to appear in Drayton Valley Provincial Court on Tuesday, May 18th.
