Two Albertans cleaned house at the Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture (CYSA) competition at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto over the weekend.

On Saturday, November 2, Ryley Mappin from the Central Alberta hamlet of Byemoor won first place in the Junior category.

In the Senior category, first place went to Ellie Stauffer from Pincher Creek.

The annual competition is open to ages 11 to 24, where competitors tackled topics this year like GMOs, food fraud, and aquaculture.

The CYSA say one of the goals of the competition is to strengthen the agriculture industry by developing future spokespersons and leaders.
