Canola's resiliency was highlighted last week at the Canola Council of Canada's annual convention in Winnipeg.

Past President Patti Miller, who now serves as Chief Commissioner of the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC), presented the organization's 2016 annual report.

She said the group remains committed to their goal of achieving an average yield of 52 bushels per acre by the year 2025.

"We did, with the board of directors and the staff, go back and look at those goals again and people are still pretty comfortable with them," explained Miller. "We haven't seen the kind of growth that we thought there would be, that uptick with specialty oils, but we felt comfortable with still leaving that goal where it was."

Miller notes she's amazed by the continued growth of Canada's canola sector and the impact the crop is having on the Canadian economy.
