High gopher numbers this time of year are causing farmers grief.

Ag Fieldman of Vulcan County, Kelly Malmberg, says this could be because of the warm start to spring.

"You don't really see the problem until you go out and start checking your canola fields, and they can do a lot of damage in a hurry."

Some farmers in the Vulcan County have even had to replant canola fields due to this infestation.

There are also small pockets of wireworms, and isolated pockets of cutworms in the County.

Malmberg adds, "Flea beetles are out there, but I haven't heard of big enough numbers to warrant spraying."

Issues in canola have not been spotted in the County so far.

As seeding has drawn to a close, farmers are in full swing as the spraying season continues.
