Farm Credit Canada is hosting a series of free events to fuel a passion for agriculture in the next generation.

There are five FCC Young Farmer Summits, called Ignite, taking place across the country. One of the events will be in Edmonton on January 16.

The event is open to anyone under the age of 40, who is interested in any sector of agriculture, including food manufacturing and retail.

Doug Wilson, Director for the Red Deer District with Farm Credit Canada, says they want to provide young people the opportunity to create connections with people who share a common love for agriculture.

"The future of our industry depends on attracting this next generation of young, bright entrepreneurs to careers throughout the industry, as well as help those already involved in the industry realize their dreams."

Wilson says, they one day event is designed to be a lot of fun, and challenge the way you think.

"What people should hear, is a mix of speakers talking about inspiration, planning, networking, and growing your business. They'll hear from entrepreneurs that have succeeded, and they'll hear from other industry professionals and experts."

One of the speakers featured at the event will be Tom Deans.

Dean is an award-winning speaker and best selling author, who is an intergenerational wealth expert.

Michael Hoffort, FCC president and CEO, says, from production to processing and retail, Canada's agriculture industry needs the ideas, passion, and energy of young people.

The event is free, but registration is required.
