Agriculture for Life is bridging the gap between agriculture and classroom curriculums. The Agriculture Education Teachers' Symposium is being held for teachers involved with students Kindergarten to Grade 12, who want to incorporate agriculture into their existing curriculum.

CEO of Ag for Life, Luree Williamson, says they wanted to give teachers the opportunity to learn about agriculture from a number of different experts.

"Not all teachers come from the farm, and maybe aren't familiar with agriculture. So, we wanted to have an opportunity for them to learn about some of the topics in agriculture, as well as have connection points."

The day will cover topics in pesticides and the role of bees, careers in agriculture for students, container gardening in the classroom, and much more.

"The connection of where your food comes from relates to so much in terms of health and wellness, in terms of careers, in terms of globalization, and in terms of of the environment and climate change. There's so much to learn about agriculture."

Williamson says, teachers will also here from keynote speaker, Dr. Frank Robinson, who is a Professor in Agricultural, Life, and Environmental Sciences, at the University of Alberta.

"He's very passionate about agriculture education. He'll be coming in and talking about the importance of agriculture and making sure we do include it in the curriculum with the students."

The one day event will be hosted November 24, at the Cochrane Ranchehouse.
