A class action lawsuit has been filed against the Hutterite Colony meat shop responsible for 36 cases of E. coli in the Edmonton area.
The Meat Shop at Pine Haven is a part of the Pine Haven Hutterite Colony South of Wetaskiwin, and Alberta Health Services says, the E. coli was traced back to a number of their pork products.
Eleven patients have needed hospital care and one has likely died due to infection with E. coli.
James H. Brown and Associates of Edmonton filed a statement of claim against the meat shop and the Hutterite Colony, seeking $15 million in damages.
