The Alberta Canola Producers Commission wrapped up their "Powering Your Profits" series yesterday in Strathmore, AB.

12 free regional meetings were held across the Province, featuring speakers highlighting practices in canola production, such as agronomy, marketing, and management.

Rick Taillieu, Manager of Grower Relations and Extensions with the Commission, says they've been hosting regional meetings for 28 years since the Commission started.

"A couple of years ago, we re-branded into the Powering Your Profits, because really what this meeting is about is the speakers that bring that agronomy, marketing, and management information to the growers."

Taillieu says, they had record attendance at all 12 events.

"I think we've built a brand where growers realize when they come they're going to hear from top-notch speakers, and probably equally important is just that first chance of the year for growers within each region, we have 12 regions, to get together, share stories, share experiences, and learn from one another."

It's also the Alberta Canola Producers Commission's chance to get some feedback.

"We also learn a lot by engaging our growers. They own the Commission, they're the shareholders, so we need the feedback from them on what direction we want to take going forward."

Taillieu was one of the presenters at the meeting, where he shared the Commissions Annual Report and upcoming events.

Other topics presented in Strathmore included Tax and Farm Management, Wildlife Friendly Farming for Fun and Profit, Clubroot...Coming to a Feild Near You, and the 7 Deadlyish Sins of Marketing.
