Nominations are open for two Alberta Milk awards.

Alberta Milk Communications Specialist, Karlee Conway, says the first award is the Dairy Industry Achievement Award, which they've been giving out since the 1940's.

"It is an award that recognizes leaders that contribute to the development of producer industry-wide policy or programs that really just advance the dairy industry somehow."

They're also giving out the Recognition of Service Award, which Conway says, is a newer award for people who don't qualify for the Achievement Award, but have done amazing things to move the industry forward.

"It's important that we recognize the people that help the industry, and I think especially during these sensitive times with the NAFTA renegotiation, it's important to ensure those people who always go over and above are recognized for their hard work."

The awards will be presented at the Alberta Milk Dairy Conference Wednesday, November 21 in Calgary.

Nominations are due Monday, October 1 at 4:30pm.
