Farmers got an update from their Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions earlier this month in Lacombe.

On Tuesday, November 13 the commissions hosted one on their Next Level Farming regional meetings at the Memorial Centre with a number of speakers.

Alberta Wheat Commission Chair, Kevin Bender, says they had a pretty good turnout.

"Our goal as a commission is to increase the profitability of Alberta wheat farmers, so anything that we can do to help them maximize their profits, that's our success."

Bender says, they learned about preventing rural crime, farm safety, plant diseases and marketing.

Other Next Level Farming events took place in Strathmore, Rycroft and Westlock, with another Alberta Barley Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 27 in Enchant.

Their last Alberta Wheat Commission meeting is coming up in Lethbridge on Wednesday, December 12 during the Farming Smarter conference.
