The Town of High River had to jump into action pretty quickly Saturday afternoon when a gas leak forced them to close the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.

The contractor building the new field house accidentally ruptured the line forcing the building to be evacuated.

The Town's Manager of Engineering Reiley McKerracher says at no time was anyone in danger.

"We have policies and plans in place for when these things happen. So did the contractor. The contractor and the town responded pretty quick. The users of the facility were extremely understanding and very cooperative. You don't like to test these things but it went very smooth."

The leak was fixed and the Rec-Plex was re-opened Sunday morning.

McKerracher says the line has been patched and is scheduled to be replaced during the construction.
