Okotoks' Pason Centennial Arena will be the destination for Alberta Sledge Hockey players this weekend as they host their tryout camp.

Andy Wigston, Director of Operations for Alberta Sledge, says they are short quite a few players this year and are in search of new recruits.

"This year I lost three players to Team Canada, three players to retirement, and two players to injuries, so we're definitely in recruiting mode," he said.

Wigston says the Alberta team often sees its players advance to higher ranks.

"This is the higher end level of the sledge program. we're the feeder team. Next to the olympics teams, you're pretty much going to see the best of the best. We're hoping to be successful again this year, but it depends who shows up and how many players we can find," he said.

The Alberta Sledge Hockey Team are National three-time Champions, and look to keep the momentum going with fresh players this season.

The tryout camp is an invite only event, with players coming from various Alberta locations to show their talents in hopes of being recruited.

The team's success has been attributed to Head Coach, Steve Arsenault, a paralympic silver and bronze medallist, who has played for Team Canada since 2011, earning four gold medal titles in seven years.
