A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for areas of the Foothills including Okotoks and High River.
Environment Canada issued the advisory at about 6:30 p.m. and advised that it could bring heavy rain, strong wind, and even hail.
They anticipate that thunderstorms will develop in the evening and die down overnight.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for Foothills County in the Cayley area closer to 6:45 p.m. due to a storm near Highway 2 that could produce "Toonie-sized hail."
Anyone caught near a storm is advised to take shelter, especially if they can hear thunder.
Environment Canada warns that Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
