The Okotoks Art Gallery held a lottery draw on Friday.

They were picking the next slate of artists for their Art In The Halls program, which puts artwork from local artists on display in the halls of the municipal centre, the rec centre, the Centennial Arenas, the Okotoks Library, and the Foothills Centennial Centre.

It was introduced in 2010, and originally only included the municipal centre.

Since then, it's grown to include other buildings and many other artists.

Artwork is rotated out every four to six months, with artists previously selected on a first-come, first-serve basis.

With 34 artists applying to take part in the program, the gallery opted to, for the first time, hold a random draw to select the next group of artists to be featured.

Okotoks artist Bryan Faubert, whose installation "MaSh-UP X: Where the Big Rock Is" is currently on display in the art gallery, was brought in to draw 14 names, along with an extra two in case one of the 14 is unable to participate in the program.

The event was streamed live to the Okotoks Heritage & Culture Facebook page.

The winning artists were:

  1. Jennie De Rosa
  2. Shirin Yamolky
  3. Judy Trafford
  4. Yanina Eberhard
  5. Dale Deglow
  6. Maggie Warkentin
  7. Peter Freeborn
  8. Wanru Kemp
  9. Dawn Watts
  10. Doug Pope
  11. Linda Andrusiw
  12. Randy Clark
  13. Ellen Lorne
  14. Jeanette Sthamann

The two backup names drawn were Taryn Hofman and Kim Berlie.
