Both the Federal and Provincial Government's put together aid packages last week for people dealing with job losses and other fall-out from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Foothills MP, John Barlow, says these are tough times for residents and local businesses and the programs are welcome, but he says they need a bit of scrutiny to make sure they're what's needed.

"A lot of concerns, they're having to lay staff off. They're wondering whether they stay open or not. There's a lot of anxiety and just uncertainty. They want some answers. So, some of these programs are very helpful. But now we need to see the details."

Barlow, is applauding the Federal Government's quick action to help Canadians out during the pandemic with a quick influx of cash to those who need it, or otherwise wouldn't qualify.

He says his one concern is how fast the cash can get to those who need it, particularly small business owners.

"If there's any criticism it's have the initiatives for small business gone far enough? And same with these programs rolling out in the next few weeks. I don't think the next few weeks is good enough. We've got to find a way to get these things moving as soon as possible."

Barlow says while it's not a time for partisan politics, the Conservatives do need to see the details of the plan to spread billions across the country in such a short time.
