Volunteers will be out giving High River a good once-over again Saturday, May 14.

It's the annual Green Sweep clean-up and councillor Jamie Kinghorn says it starts at the Rec-Plex at 9 a.m.

"We're going to have everyone show up there and all you have to bring is your gloves, we'll provide garbage bags and I believe there's going to be some snacks and stuff."

"We'll have a big map, we'll designate people out to different areas of the town and we're going to clean High River up, although it's not bad we're going to get it to that next level," he says.

Tipping fees are being waived at the Foothills Regional Landfill that day so that anyone who wants to clean up around their own yards and alleys can take their items there free.

"Historically it's been very popular and we'll have the electronics recycling, that trailer's going to be there so people can drop off electronics and of course the garbage bags, fill them up, put them off to the side and we've got teams that will be picking them up," Kinghorn says.

It's also a great chance to get to know your neighbours by helping them, especially if they have mobility issues or don't have a suitable vehicle for hauling the trash away.
