The business of farming is always changing and that certainly includes the area of equipment.

The CFO for Rocky Mountain Equipment, David Ascott says even year-over-year there are big changes. "The changes that we're seeing in equipment really relates to precision farming, advanced agronomy, adding technology to really help the farmer in mapping fields and reducing input costs." He says some of the company's older locations built in the 1980's have had to have the doors widened to make room for the much bigger, newer equipment.

Ascott says farms are getting larger and more efficient and that means they are making more investments in equipment and they require a bigger dealership to handle the work.

He says they operate 40 stores across the prairies with 90 per cent of their business focused on agriculture and the other 10 per cent on construction. Ascott says their main relationship is with CASE IH and CASE Construction.
