About a section of land north of the Orica plant between Highway 23 and 498th Avenue north of Blackie was burned Wednesday afternoon.

Foothills County Fire Chief Rick Saulnier says it was brought under control in about an hour's time.

Crews were called in from Heritage Pointe, Vulcan County, High River, Milo, Cayley and Blackie.

Saulnier also gives credit to area farmers who had their diskers out in front of the fire creating a break with the 30-to-35 kilometre an hour winds pushing the fire along.

He says it was a really good effort by everybody on scene.
