The Canadian Wheat Board says Western Canadian farmers are sitting on a bumper crop this year.

The CWB's Director of Crop Market Research Neil Townsend says it's a record year for producers.

"We're seeing very, very favourable yield results all across the prairie's, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba. Basically it's looking like it's the first time we're going to exceed 60-million tonne for Western Canadian production of the six major grains which includes Durham, oats, barley, rye, flax and everybody's favourite, canola."

Townsend says it'll likely be a record crop for canola, and while not a record year for wheat in tonnage, it will be in yield.
