Cattle shows take a twist

Cattle shows were part of the Calgary Exhibition before it added the Stampede.

The beef will still be on display but there's a slight twist this year.

For most breeds, a couple of animals representing each will be part of a show case starting Thursday.

High River area producer Grant Hirsche says it's an opportunity to show people where the cattle come from.

"It'll definitely be a little different than we are used to and I think most of the breeders have mixed feelings on it", he says.
