Containers of President's Choice Moroccan-Style Hummus are flying off store shelves, but not in a good way.

On Tuesday, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced a recall of the hummus regarding concerns of poisoning from Staphylococcus bacteria.

Sold across Canada, the 280g packages of the recalled hummus display a best before date of June 14, 2015 and the UPC code 0 60383 13387 0.

The bacteria can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, and fever, but can even lead to headaches, muscle cramping, and changes in blood pressure and pulse rate in severe cases. Food contaminated with the toxin may also not look or smell spoiled, but can still make people sick.

Although there have been no reported illnesses associated with the hummus, the toxin produced by the bacteria is very difficult to break down, even at high cooking temperatures.

If you own the affected product, the CFIA advises you to either throw it away or return it to the original location where it was purchased.

The CFIA is conducting a food investigation of the hummus, and other President's Choice products could possible be recalled.
