The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board has denied a number of local groups standing at upcoming hearings.
Compton Petroleum has made an application to drill a sweet gas well 38-kilometers west of Claresholm.
The E-U-B denied requests for standing from the Pekisko Group, the South Porcupine Hills Stewardship Association, the Livingstone Landowners and two families.
The proposed well is an exploratory well.
If Compton applies for other wells they'll have to provide an area development plan and environmental assessments.
