It's been over a week since the launch of the 511 Alberta Roads Reports Service, and most Albertans are embracing the program.

The service has received over 19,000 phone calls, over 120,000 visits on the website and have more then 4200 followers on twitter.

Spokesperson for Alberta Transportation, Nancy Beasley Hosker, says the main goal of this system is to provide Albertans quick, safe and easy access to road conditions across the province.

Beasley Hosker explains the "voice activation is a great new feature this service provides because it allows people using hands-free to do information gathering while on the road."

Although the system is receiving positive feedback, Beasley Hosker has noticed some complaints regarding the accuracy of the website.

She explains that although they try to get information out immediately to Albertans, road conditions are updated by highway maintenance contractors that must update the system at least once a day - but Alberta's unpredictable weather can make updates difficult.

Beasley Hosker says a simple solution to this problem is to go on the website and view the cameras that are automatically updated every twenty minutes.
