The deadline for grant applications for Alberta Culture Days is coming up fast.

Grants of up to $10,000 are available to help community organizations offset the cost of planning and hosting events, showcasing local talent and highlighting existing cultural programs in their communities.

During Alberta Culture Days, community groups are encouraged to host free public events celebrating culture.

"It's a great pleasure to announce that grant applications for Alberta Culture Days are officially open. Each September, Alberta celebrates talent, community spirit and our diverse cultures, Minister of Culture, Jason Luan says Minister of Culture. "I encourage all community organizations to apply for a grant to help host their event during this month-long celebration."

There are three levels of grants available:

  • Feature Celebration Sites are eligible for grants of $10,000 to offer three days of programming.
  • Host Celebration Sites are able to receive $5,000 for two days of programming.
  • Pop Up Celebration Sites which are one-day programming events offered and are eligible for grants of $1,000.

More than 3.8 million people took in events during Culture Days last year and more than 3,000 free events were held in over 500 communities across the country.

The deadline to apply for grants is Friday March 17, 2023.

Culture Days runs the whole month of September.
