The Okotoks Dawgs won their fourth in a row with a 6-2 win Thursday night at Seaman Stadium.

Defence was the watch word for this game as both teams did their best to make it a chess match early.

Fielder Daniel Fredrickson who scored a couple of runs and brought in another says the Dawgs infielders really stepped up.

"Matt Morrow, you know he's had some struggles at third base, but tonight he really picked it up. He had a couple of real great plays for us. Kellen (Maruffo) at first base picked us up a couple of times. Sisler (Brian), had a diving play, Joey (Underwood) had a sliding play. It was just really a team win tonight."

The Cardinals were first on the board, but that didn't last long as the Dawgs responded when Fredrickson crossed the plate.

He had a great night going 2-for-4 at the plate, scoring twice and driving in an RBI.

Brian Sisler chipped in with 2 RBI’s and 2 hits., while Kellen Marruffo scored once.

Dawgs pitcher Jean Acevedo picked up the win going six innings, giving up two runs while striking out four and walking one.  Brandon Zywicki. Dan Grazzini, and Jeremy Newton with the save went the rest of the way for the Dawgs on the mound.

The Dawgs and Cards wrap up their two game series Friday night in Okotoks on 99.7 Sun Country night.
