Defence was the story of tonight's game between Okotoks and Sylvan Lake with the Gulls edging out the Dawgs 2-1.

With the loss, the Gulls took the three-game mini-series against the Dawgs 2-1 after winning back-to-back games. Okotoks however leads 5-2 in the season series.

Brock Townsend started on the mound and pitched a full eight innings. He would strike out three Gull batters and only allowed five hits. In the ninth inning, Trent Warstler came in relief and struck out a single Gull.

The first five innings would go scoreless, at the top of the sixth the Gulls broke open the scoring with a single run. They added another run at the top of the seventh taking a 2-0 lead.

At the bottom of the ninth, the Dawgs answered back with a run from Calgary's own Aidan Rose with help from a Lou Anderson single. That's the only offence the Dawgs could muster up on the night, falling just short against the Gulls.

The Dawgs will look to right their wrong tomorrow night against the Bombers as they got an upset win over Okotoks on Tuesday (July 11).

Seaman Stadium will host their first-ever teddy bear toss tomorrow at 7:05 when the Dawgs and Bombers face off.
