A 133 unit seniors apartment complex slated for the Willow Ridge area of Black Diamond took the first steps towards being built at Black Diamond Town Council last week. The developer had sought and won approval for a zoning change allowing him to build such a large development. Councillor Bill Price voted against the plan saying it's too big. Price says he doesn't agree with cries of there not being enough housing for seniors in the area. He says the building is slated to be a 45 or older complex already. But Price says it's a given that if they can't rent all the units to seniors and "empty nesters" they'll have to rent to younger couples. The developer will now apply for a development permit before being allowed to start building.
