The Town of Okotoks is bringing back e-scooters this year.

After a successful pilot program last year and some feedback from residents in December, town council voted in favour of partnering with Bird Canada to bring them back for another year.

This second run will act almost as a second pilot run, with a few differences from last year.

Safety will be a focus, with residents having expressed concerns in a survey from December.

Transit lead David Gardner shared some of those findings during the council meeting, which included concerns over people under the age of 16 riding scooters and people speeding on pathways.

The town will also encourage riders to wear helmets.

Assuming the weather cooperates, the town plans to make the e-scooters available from March to October.
