A big modernization at Blackie school was completed last year.

It includes space for community groups to use, but that could spell the end of the Blackie Community Hall.

Kelly Malmberg says he's disappointed with the idea of having it come down.

"They did do a major upgrade at the Blackie school and part of the reconstruction of the school was they built a facility for the Lions club and the service clubs, they've got a pretty nice set up for food, but I think there's some hard feelings with the hall coming down because, why are we tearing down good buildings just because we did an upgrade at the school," he says.

He doubts the Foothills School Division will be happy with events like the Blackie Lions Oyster Feed or other events where liquor is sold being held at the school.
