The recently announced Alberta government budget calls for spending over $8 billion over three years on capital projects in Transportation and Economic Corridors.

That's a $136 million increase compared with last year's budget.

Included in the lengthy list of projects are several in the Southern region.

They include:

  •       Rehabilitation of the Highwood River Bridge
  •       Bridge deck rehabilitation on Highway 2A over Highway 2
  •       Engineering for Highway 2 and 338 Avenue interchange
  •       Rehabilitation of the Sheep River Bridge
  •       Culvert replacement on Highway 549 near Millarville
  •       Highway 3 twinning engineering

Funding for the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program, the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership, and the Water for Life program is also being increased to help smaller municipalities improve critical local transportation and water infrastructure.
