The Calgary Stampede took time out again to honour southern Alberta's farm families.

They were recognized for their exceptional commitment to the agriculture industry and the community.

Foothills County Reeve Delilah Miller says they were happy to see the family of Bart and Rosemary Brocklebank receive recognition.

"I was very happy that their nomination was accepted on behalf of Foothills County, it would have been nice to have been able to honour them while Bart was alive, but nevertheless it is a really nice honour for them to receive."

She says they have always been busy in the community.

"They were very involved with the East Longview Hall for many years, a huge volunteer with the High River United Church, Bart was also a 24-year member of our Ag Service Board and he was also an instrumental member of the Rotary Club in High River," Miller says.

Bart Brocklebank was killed in a farm accident last year.

The families received their awards at a luncheon and then took in the afternoon rodeo.
